André Dumans Guedes

André Dumans Guedes has a degree in Economics (UFMG), a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning (IPPUR/UFRJ) and a PhD in Social Anthropology (Museu Nacional / UFRJ). He won the ANPOCS 2012 Award for Best Doctoral Thesis in Social Sciences. He works mainly in the following areas: social effects of large investment projects (hydroelectric or in the oil and gas industry), in the Brazilian states of Goiás and Rio de Janeiro; anthropology of mobility, home and economy; rural sociology and relations between land and territory; relations between science, development and traditional knowledge.
